Pre-Kindergarten
A Dynamic and Comprehensive Montessori Curriculum
Our pre-kindergarten program includes an enriched academic experience tailored to each child’s developmental stage, with hands-on materials and individualized instruction:
- Handwriting: Focus on cursive writing to refine fine motor control.
- Language Arts: Phonetics, reading fluency, grammar, and sentence structure.
- Geography & Cultural Studies: An exploration of the seven continents, including food, habitats, animals, music, people, and traditions.
- Mathematics: Decimal system, four operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division), and skip counting.
- Science: Hands-on experiments and exploration of natural and physical sciences.
Pre-Kindergarten Program
Pre-Kindergarten is the third year of Montessori Primary cycle, offering children the opportunity to solidify their foundational skills while stepping into leadership roles within their multi-age classroom. As the “seniors” of the Children’s House, pre-kindergarteners model independence, collaboration, and responsibility to their younger peers.
Children typically begin their Montessori Primary journey at age 3 and remain in the same environment for three years. Upon completing pre-kindergarten, they transition smoothly into a first-grade program, whether Montessori or traditional.
A Structured Daily Routine
Pre-Kindergarteners participate in the uninterrupted morning work cycle alongside their younger classmates, engaging in self-directed activities and lessons. In the afternoon (1:00-3:00), while younger children rest, they join small-group lessons guided by lead Montessori teachers. This focused time allows for deeper engagement in math and language activities, followed by reading chapter books to develop comprehension skills.
Progress & Assessment
To ensure a smooth transition to first grade, each student receives a detailed assessment of their academic progress and achievements. This helps future educators understand the child’s learning journey within the Montessori framework.
